To explore the meaning of silence in city planning and architecture, artist Sarah van Sonsbeeck created a glass cube that encloses one cubic metre of silence. The cube was presented at the SITE2F7 event in Almere, 22 August 2009, with a performance by Machinefabriek, using the m3 as a sound source. Silence became noise.
