Prints, Books & Multiples. 1960 to now

Mai ales cand este vorba despre the most comprehensive collection of modern prints and illustrated books in the world.

Wunderkammer. A Century of Curiosities brings together a selection of works by artists from the XIX to the XX-first century who have felt to pull of the unusual and extraordinary.

Wunderkammer

Artists representing various movements and geographical backgrounds are featured: Cubist, Dada, and Russian avant-garde artists of the 1910s and 1920s; artists associated with Minimalism, Op art, and hard-edge abstraction in the 1960s and 1970s; and contemporary artists who continue to exploit the infinite potential of simple geometries.

GEO/Metric

This exhibition examines how artists from the late XIX century to today have explored contemporary concerns by challenging, redeeming, or personalizing historical subjects. Many of the works take a narrative approach, referring to events in history, ancient mythology, the Bible or centuryes-old fables.

Repicturing the past

Kiki Smith (American, born Germany, 1954) is among the most significant artists of her generation. Known primarily as a sculptor, she has also devoted herself to printmaking, which she considers an equally vital part of her work.

Prints, Books & Things

In January 2001, MoMA received from The Judith Rothschild Foundation an extraordinary gift of some 1100 books and 100 related works of the Russian avant-garde.

What is a Print?

The 1890s in Paris, forever popularized as the time of the can-can and cabaret, was a period of unparalleled printmaking activity. This exhibition of approximately 200 works, focuses on the private and public aspects of printmaking during this pivotal stage in the history of the modern print.
