Raúl Ruiz – The Suspended Vocation [1978]

The Suspended Vocation [1978] aduce in discutie niste chestiuni a naibii de plictisitoare, aka existentiale:

Ostensibly a faithful adaptation of Pierre Klossowski’s autobiographical novel about the struggle between rival doctrinal factions with the Catholic Church, The Suspended Vocation illustrates Ruiz’s belief that institutions, in order to survive, must treat all forms of dissidence as treason. In 1942, a film entitled The Suspended Vocation was begun by a group of monks; running out of money, they abandoned the project. Twenty years later, a religious order hires a professional director to again take up this film project; the director, having examined the earlier footage, concludes that it is unusable. He decides to use professional actors, at which point the church authorities, fearful of the escalating costs, withdraw their support. Finally, in 1971, a third attempt is made to rework all the material into a coherent form.

Un film absolut recomandat tuturor celor carora le place sa incetoseze diferentele dintre responsabilitate si evadare (am numit-o responsabilitatea evadarii).

Hans van der Laan

Minimalismul este deja o evidenta in arhitectura si designul contemporan. Putini insa stiu ca printre monstrii sacri ai acestui curent se “ascunde” o figura de exceptie, o persoana asupra careia reflectoarele s-au oprit arareori, un om pentru care vocatia de arhitect s-a imbinat perfect cu o alta: cea ce monah benedictin. Este vorba despre Hans van der Laan.

Am vizitat acum cativa ani una din manastirile construite de dansul, in Olanda. Extrem de austera, respectiva manastire avea ceva ce depasea structura “simpla” a liniei si a punctului: holul nu indeajuns de lung, dar suficient de scurt…

Icoanele sau / si statuile – inclusa Crucea – sunt ca si inexistente.

Center for History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents – unicul centru, pana la ora actuala, dedicat acestui subiect atat de complex.

Unul dintre cele mai importante instrumente de lucru editate de centrul mai sus mentionat – pe scurt GHF – este Dictionary of Gnosis & Western Esotericism, o lucrare masiva in doua volume (cu peste 1200 pp. in total) ce prezinta

a great range of historical currents and personalities that have flourished in Western culture and society over a period of roughly two millennia, from Late Antiquity to the present. By doing so, it intends not only to provide a comprehensive reference work, but also to question certain ingrained assumptions about the history of Western religion and culture, and promote new agendas and analytical frameworks for research in these domains.

Asadar un intrument obligatoriu pentru toti cei interesati in a intelege mai in adanc societatea contemporana si nu numai.

Unii m-au “acuzat” de a fi exagerat in a vedea peste tot numai religie / teologie si de a analiza  arta (contemporana sau nu), economia sau politica europeana pornind de la acest criteriu. Recunosc: vad peste tot structuri religioase: in moda, in arta, in economie, in finante, in politica etc. Pentru mine, a lasa aceaste structuri afara inseamna a lasa enorm de mult afara, inseamna a ignora motorul cel mai important al societatii, baza fundamentala a realului in care ne miscam.
