Sound vs music

Gary Giddins*: …and the Sound?

Manfred Eicher**: Never forget that the Sound is not music. Music is using sound in organizing emotions in time. Music has no location.

P.S. Eicher l-a descoperit pe Arvo Pärt ascultand Radio Erevan. Hehe.

Spellewauerynsherde

Le Corbusier si Xenakis si-au lasat amprenta in tacerea initiala:

“Create a silent dwelling place for one hundred bodies and one hundred hearts” – such was the prayer that Father Marie-Alain Couturier offered up to Le Corbusier.

Xenakis’s mark is found in the “musical” or “undulatory” glazed panels that adorn one facade of the Couvent. He created a spectacular counterpoint over three levels of windows by varying the widths of the window panels according to the proportions of the Fibonacci series.
